| Philosophy of Education |
We believe that children are a blessing and gift from God, and that He has given parents, not the state, the primary responsibility to nurture, train, instruct, and educate their children.
Therefore, our understanding of home education comes straight from the Word of God, as given in Deuteronomy ---6:6-7. “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
We believe education encompasses Noah Webster's 1828 definition: “The bringing up as of a child, instruction, formation of manners. Education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline, which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, art and science is important, to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on parents and guardians who neglect these duties.”
We believe that true knowledge (wisdom) comes from God through His Word. Thus all areas of life must be viewed through and taught from a Biblical perspective, thereby ensuring that children are receiving the firm foundation on which to stand in the future. We believe God's promise: “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22.6.
We firmly believe that while it may not be God's plan for every family to homeschool, when God calls a family to educate their children at home, He will provide the means, training, patience and strength to answer His call.
